Gifts can be given for any occasion. Don't find a reason to give a gift. Make one!
What is This?

A long, long time ago... well... July 2010, Bryan, our founder, received a message from his mother-in-law asking the children to contribute to her birthday present. She had bought herself a cake mixer because she knew the children were busy with work and she didn't want to burden them with finding something special for her.

This got Bryan thinking... What has
happened to gifting in Singapore?

His mother-in-law, being thoughtful, obviously didn't want to make gifting an obligation for her children so she bought the gift herself. And she isn't the first. Other times, many other people have received money in red packets given as a last resort because buying a unique, interesting and meaningful gift in Singapore is an overwhelming task. Gifting is no longer a joy but a chore.

Isn’t there some way to make gifting meaningful again? Even more important, can gifting be redone such that it helps build strong relationships between family members and between friends?

Being the engineer and research freak that he is, Bryan started studying the gifting process intensely and realised that one fundamental purpose behind gift-giving is that it affirms a person's relationship with others. Even more illuminating was research showing that material goods are not as effective as experiences in making the giver and recipient happier.

The problem with experiences is that you are never sure if the recipient will like the experience chosen for them. This means a giver will have to check with the recipient first before purchasing - this takes the surprise out of the gift. If not, a risk will have to be taken to just buy the experience and hopefully the recipient will like it (or pretend to like).

To take the risk out of purchasing experiences, Bryan came up with the idea of Big Life Treats - a gift featuring a choice of one experience out of multiple experiences specially chosen by the recipient. The chance of the recipient not liking even 1 out of the 6 is extremely low especially since the 6 was personally chosen for him/her.

Even more so, each Big Life Treat is special and unique since there are close to 600,00 different combinations possible - the mathematical formula: 30!/6!(30-6)!

To make gifting even better, Bryan and his team broke down the gifting process and re-imagined each step of the process to make it meaningful and enjoyable once again.

And that is how Big Life Treats was born.
